I received the P.L.A.Y. Deluxe Training Pouch free for review. The views expressed are my own.
Whether you participate in dog sports like agility or just like to take your pup on an evening stroll, there is one must-have item you should have in your dog gear collection – a training pouch.
I’ve been using a training pouch to store agility treats for years while using a fanny pack to store poop bags, my keys and phone during walks, but I’ve recently discovered a training pouch that can do it all and I’m excited to talk about it!
P.L.A.Y. (Pet Lifestyle and You) recently sent me their Deluxe Training Pouch for review. At first I thought “OK, this is a pretty adorable training pouch.” (It has a super cute dog design on it.) But I soon learned that it was so much more.
The training pouch has a very spacious interior to store treats, which worked great for me at agility practice over the weekend. A drawstring lets you close the treat compartment to keep them contained, which is great since I run a lot during practice. Since this is a training pouch, a treat compartment is a given, so let’s look at some of the product’s more exciting features.
A Built-in Squeaker!
I was overjoyed when I discovered that this bag had a built-in squeaker. Daisy often gets distracted during our agility play, so a loud squeak is often just what I need to get her back on track. Normally, I’d have to carry a squeaky toy to achieve this effect, so a built-in squeaker makes keeping Daisy focused so much easier.
Easy Access Poop Bag Dispenser
There is a special compartment for poop bags with pull-through outside access. One of my biggest problems using a fanny pack to store dog bags and my phone is that the bags often unwind inside my bag and get tangled with my headphones. This pouch solves that problem by keeping the end of the dog bags in order. It’s also very convenient because you don’t have to open the pouch compartment to access a poop bag. Genius.
Reflective Straps
The 3M reflective strap can be worn around your waist, cross body or over the shoulder. This will be handy for night walks. Although I haven’t tried the cross body or over the shoulder configuration, I was slightly put off by the around the waist fit. I’m a small gal, and I run with training bag at agility practice. I’d like a very snug fit to ensure the bag stays in the same place, but I struggled with this because the straps didn’t go quite as tight as I’d like. However, the bag works completely fine on walks.
Magnetic Closure
Another nifty feature is magnetic closure on the front compartment, which makes it a hassle-free open.
Secret Compartments
I love secret compartments. This bag possesses a back zippered pocket, perfect for storing keys.
Overall Opinion
This is a great training pouch for any dog lover. It comes in two colors – mocha and vanilla – and has a reasonable price point of $19.90. The only thing that I think could make the product better is a way to snap or fasten the bag directly to the waistband of your pants or shorts in addition to the strap option.
