Fall is here – that means the leaves are changing color, the temperatures are dropping and the days are getting shorter. Fall is also – in my opinion – the funnest time of year for owning a dog. Here is a list of my favorite dog-friendly fall activities.

Hiking

Fall is the best time of year to take your dog on a hike. The air is crisp – you don’t have to worry so much about overheating your dog. And you’ll probably get treated to some beautiful autumn colors.

Snuggling

This is probably my favorite activity of all time. Everyone knows that snuggling under a blanket is the absolute best, especially as the temperatures start to cool.

Playing in Fallen Leaves

Why rake leaves when you can just toss them into the air and watch your dog chase after them?

Hanging out by the Fireplace

OK, so this is jus a warmer extension of snuggling…

Baking

I love baking in the fall. But I’m not just making people food – this is the perfect time of year to make your dog some pumpkin doggie cookies. (My dogs say their paw-lickin’ good too.) Get the recipe here.

Playing in the First Snow

As autumn comes to a close, many parts of the United States receive their first snow. I’m not a huge fan of cold weather, but I love taking my dogs out to play in snow. “What is this magic white stuff?” they must be thinking. My dog Daisy loves playing fetch, so I make snowballs and throw them. She loses it when the “ball” disappears into a blanket of white!
